What a new Buick or GMC costs in 2026
Here is every new model we sell, from least to most expensive, with the starting MSRP the manufacturer advertises. These figures exclude the destination charge ($1,995 to $2,795 depending on the model), taxes, title, registration and dealer fees, so use them to compare models, not to budget.

Starting MSRPs as published by GMC.com, Buick.com and GM pricing reports, fall 2026; excludes destination, tax, title, registration and dealer fees. GM changes pricing during the model year, so check the live price on any vehicle in our inventory.

How to buy a car in Virginia, step by step
- Set a monthly budget, not just a price. Include insurance, fuel and Chesterfield's personal property tax, which arrives each June.
- Get pre-qualified. We offer pre-qualification through GM Financial and Capital One, and you can bring outside approval from your bank or credit union.
- Value your trade. Get an offer from Haley Buys Cars and know your loan payoff before you shop.
- Pick two or three vehicles and test-drive them back to back. Our loop on Midlothian Turnpike and Route 288 covers stop-and-go traffic and highway merges.
- Ask for an itemized out-the-door quote. It should show the price, tax, title, registration, processing fee and any add-on products as separate lines.
- Review financing and protection products in the finance office. Every product beyond the vehicle itself is optional; ask what each one costs per month.
- Take delivery and use your Haley Advantage. Your 3-day return window starts at delivery on qualified vehicles, and your first oil change and lifetime state inspections are already included.
Your out-the-door price in Virginia
Virginia doesn't cap dealer processing fees, so the most useful number to compare between dealers is the out-the-door price: the total you'll pay before any trade-in credit. Here is how it adds up on a $50,000 vehicle.

| Line item | Amount | How it's set |
|---|---|---|
| Vehicle sale price | $50,000.00 | Negotiated price, after any GM incentives |
| Virginia motor vehicle sales and use tax (4.15%) | $2,075.00 | Set by the state; $75 minimum |
| Virginia title fee | $15.00 | Set by Virginia DMV |
| Registration (1 year, vehicle over 4,000 lbs) | about $45.75 | Set by DMV; varies by weight and plate type |
| Dealer processing fee | $799.00 | Haley Buick GMC Midlothian's documentation and processing charge |
| Estimated out-the-door total | about $52,934.75 | Before trade-in credit |
Illustrative only. Virginia DMV determines the taxable amount and current fees; your itemized quote shows the exact figures for your vehicle, county and plate. A trade-in lowers the amount you finance but does not reduce Virginia's sales and use tax.
For a line-by-line walkthrough of every fee, including what the processing fee covers, see our guide to out-the-door pricing in Virginia.
Financing: rates, terms and what they really cost
Your rate depends on your credit, the term, the vehicle and current manufacturer offers through GM Financial, which change monthly. The term you choose matters as much as the rate. Stretching a loan lowers the payment but raises the total interest you pay.

| Term | Monthly payment | Total interest paid | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| 60 months | $792 | $7,523 | Highest payment, least interest, builds equity fastest |
| 72 months | $682 | $9,101 | The most common middle ground |
| 84 months | $604 | $10,711 | Lowest payment, but you may owe more than the vehicle is worth for years |
Example for comparison only; not an offer of credit. Your rate and terms depend on credit approval.
Our finance team works with a wide range of credit situations and with GM Financial and Capital One. Estimate your own payment with our Virginia car payment calculator, or if you'd rather know where you stand before you visit, get pre-qualified online.
The car loan interest deduction: which models qualify
For tax years 2025 through 2028, buyers who finance a new, U.S.-assembled vehicle for personal use can deduct up to $10,000 a year of loan interest, whether they itemize or take the standard deduction. The deduction begins to phase out at $100,000 of modified adjusted gross income for single filers and $200,000 for joint filers. Leases, used vehicles and business-use vehicles don't qualify.
| Model | Final assembly | Likely status |
|---|---|---|
| GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave | Lansing, Michigan | Likely eligible |
| GMC Yukon, Yukon XL | Arlington, Texas | Likely eligible |
| GMC Canyon | Wentzville, Missouri | Likely eligible |
| GMC Sierra 1500 | Fort Wayne, Indiana, or Silao, Mexico | Depends on the specific truck |
| GMC Terrain | San Luis PotosÃ, Mexico | Not eligible |
| Buick Envista, Encore GX | South Korea | Not eligible |
| Buick Envision | China | Not eligible |
Always confirm the final assembly point printed on the window sticker or with NHTSA's VIN decoder before relying on the deduction. General information, not tax advice; consult a tax professional.
Worked example: $50,000 financed at 6.9% for 72 months is about $850 a month, with roughly $3,232 of interest in the first year. At a 22% federal bracket, deducting that interest would lower the tax bill by about $711. We'll show you the window sticker on any vehicle before you sign. Read the full model-by-model eligibility list.
Lease or buy?
| Lease | Buy (finance) | |

| Mileage limits | Yes, with per-mile charges over the limit | None |
| Car loan interest deduction | Not eligible | Eligible on qualifying U.S.-assembled models |
| Wear and customization | Excess wear is charged at turn-in | Your choice |
| Best fit | Drivers who want a new vehicle every 2-3 years and drive predictable miles | Drivers who keep vehicles 5+ years, tow, or drive a lot |
GM Financial lease offers change monthly and carry required disclosures, so we list current offers on our specials page rather than here. Our lease vs. buy guide works through the math on a real Sierra and Acadia.
Trading in, including if you owe more than it's worth
Late-model trucks and SUVs bought at 2021-2023 prices are now worth less than many owners expect. Nearly three in ten trade-ins were underwater in late 2025, owing an average of $7,214 more than the vehicle was worth (Edmunds). If that's you, the difference can be rolled into a new loan, but it raises your payment and the total interest you pay.
- Know your payoff. Get it from your lender before you shop; it's different from your balance.
- Get a written offer.Haley Buys Cars gives you a number whether or not you buy from us.
- Consider waiting. If you're more than a few thousand dollars underwater and the vehicle is reliable, paying it down for a year can save more than any incentive.
- Bring records. Service history and completed recall paperwork, especially on a 6.2L Sierra or Yukon, support your truck's value.
See our guide to negative-equity trade-ins for worked examples.

When is the best time to buy?
For most shoppers, late November through December is one of the strongest windows of the year, because dealers are making room for the next model year and GM incentives often peak at year-end. Two things specific to this year are worth weighing:
- Sierra 1500 shoppers: 2026 is expected to be the final year of the current-generation Sierra 1500 before an all-new 2027 arrives. A leftover 2026 is a proven design at a closeout price; a 2027 brings new styling and technology at a new-model price.
- Tax timing: interest you pay in 2026 on a qualifying loan counts on your 2026 return, so buying in December rather than January gets you a partial year of deductible interest sooner.

Frequently asked questions
How much is sales tax on a car in Virginia?
Virginia charges a 4.15% motor vehicle sales and use tax on the sale price, with a $75 minimum. It's collected when the vehicle is titled. Chesterfield County also charges an annual personal property tax on vehicles, billed separately and due June 5.
What is the dealer processing fee at Haley Buick GMC Midlothian?
Our dealer processing fee is $799. Virginia doesn't cap processing fees, which is why we recommend comparing out-the-door prices between dealers rather than advertised prices.
Can I return a car I bought from Haley Buick GMC Midlothian?
Yes. Qualified vehicles come with a 3-day return window as part of the Haley Advantage. Ask your salesperson which conditions apply to the vehicle you're buying.
Which Buick and GMC models qualify for the car loan interest deduction?
Based on 2026 final assembly locations, the GMC Acadia, Yukon, Yukon XL and Canyon and the Buick Enclave are likely eligible; the Sierra 1500 depends on the specific truck; and the Terrain, Envista, Encore GX and Envision are not eligible. Confirm the final assembly point on the window sticker. This is general information, not tax advice.
Can I get financing with less-than-perfect credit?
Yes. Our finance team works with a wide range of credit situations through GM Financial, Capital One and other lenders. Pre-qualifying online shows you where you stand before you visit.
Is it better to lease or buy a GMC in 2026?
Buying usually wins if you keep vehicles more than five years, drive a lot, tow, or plan to use the car loan interest deduction, which doesn't apply to leases. Leasing can win if you want a lower payment and a new vehicle every two or three years.
Do I have to finance through the dealer?
No. You can bring approval from your own bank or credit union, pay cash, or compare it against our GM Financial and Capital One offers.
What's included with every purchase?
The Haley Advantage: a 90-day limited warranty, 3-day return window, lifetime Virginia state inspections, first oil change, loaners during major service, up to one year of 24-hour roadside assistance and Haley Advantage Rewards, on qualified vehicles.
