How do the 2026 Sierra 1500 trims compare?

The twelve Crew Cab configurations fall into four tiers: work-grade, everyday comfort, off-road and premium luxury. Our GMC Truck & SUV Guide explains what each trim name means across the whole GMC lineup.

The Pro (2WD at $44,500; 4WD at $48,100) is the straightforward work truck. It has a 7-inch infotainment screen, a plastic steering wheel, manual front seats, chrome bumpers and basic climate control. It supports wired smartphone integration and includes Lane Keep Assist and automatic emergency braking. The Fleet Convenience Package and Trailering Package are notable options for commercial buyers.

The SLE (2WD at $51,600; 4WD at $55,200) steps up to the 13.4-inch screen, wireless smartphone integration, keyless entry with push-button start, a synthetic leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power driver seat, dual-zone automatic climate control and chrome mirrors. The Preferred Package adds adaptive cruise control and a garage door opener.

The Elevation (2WD at $53,600; 4WD at $57,200; Elevation 3VL at $53,900) builds on the SLE with a blackout exterior and body-color bumpers. The optional Elevation Premium Package adds a folding rear seat and under-seat storage, and the Elevation Black Package extends the dark styling.

The SLT (2WD at $55,400; 4WD at $59,200) adds leather seating, a memory driver seat, the standard MultiPro Tailgate, woodgrain interior trim and a spray-in bedliner on the 4WD Standard Box. The SLT Convenience Package adds a 7-speaker Bose audio system, wireless charging, heated and ventilated front seats and an electric steering column.

The AT4 (4WD only at $68,800) is the off-road specialist. The Duramax diesel, 10.7 inches of ground clearance, all-terrain tires, two-tone 20-inch wheels, underbody protection, a raised suspension, HD Surround Vision and Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert all come standard.[1][7]

The Denali (2WD at $66,100; 4WD at $69,900) is the luxury flagship. It comes standard with a 7-speaker Bose system with subwoofer, HD Surround Vision, driver-selectable electronic suspension, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a wireless charging pad, woodgrain and titanium-look trim, chrome exterior accents and the MultiPro Tailgate. The Denali Reserve Package adds 22-inch two-tone wheels, and the Technology Package adds a head-up display and digital mirror.[1]

How does the 2026 Sierra 1500 perform, and what fuel economy does it get?

Three engines power the twelve configurations in this guide, and the choice shapes both daily driving and weekend capability. The 2.7L TurboMax four-cylinder, standard on the Pro, SLE and Elevation, makes 310 hp and 430 lb-ft through an 8-speed automatic. The EcoTec3 5.3L V8 in the SLT and Denali makes 355 hp and 383 lb-ft through a 10-speed automatic. The AT4 is the only configuration here with the Duramax 3.0L turbodiesel, rated at 305 hp and 495 lb-ft through a 10-speed automatic.[1][7]

Fuel economy is EPA-estimated city / highway / combined mpg.[6]

The AT4’s diesel is the most efficient configuration at 24 mpg combined. Among gas trims, the 2WD Pro leads at 20 mpg combined, while the 4WD V8 trims return 17 mpg combined.[6][7]

All trims share a front independent strut suspension with coil springs and a rear solid axle with leaf springs. The Denali adds driver-selectable electronic suspension as standard. The AT4 raises ground clearance to 10.7 inches, with a 25.4-degree approach angle and 25.9-degree departure angle, the best geometry in the lineup for unpaved roads.

Other Sierra 1500 configurations offer the 6.2L V8. If you’re shopping a used 2021–2024 Sierra with that engine, check its recall status in our 6.2L V8 recall center.

How much can the 2026 Sierra 1500 tow and haul?

Properly equipped, the 2026 Sierra 1500 tows up to 13,300 lbs. That rating requires the Duramax 3.0L turbodiesel and the Max Trailering Package in specific configurations.[1][2] As standard-equipped, the Crew Cab configurations in this guide rate between 8,700 and 9,400 lbs, led by the 2WD SLT and 2WD Denali with the 5.3L V8.[1]

Every Crew Cab comes with trailer towing preparation and a fixed rear cargo box step. Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert is standard on the Denali and AT4 and available on the SLE and Elevation, which helps Bon Air and Midlothian families towing boats or campers.[1] To see how typical Central Virginia loads, from jon boats to travel trailers, match up across GMC trucks, see how much a GMC can tow.

What exterior features make the 2026 Sierra 1500 stand out?

Every 2026 Sierra 1500 has full LED lighting, including low and high beams, daytime running lights, fog lights, side indicators, taillights and brake lights. That LED suite gives the Sierra a recognizable look on Bon Air’s roads at any hour.[1]

Full LED lighting, including headlamps, daytime running lights and fog lamps, is standard on every 2026 Sierra 1500. The Denali shown adds its signature chrome grille.

The Pro has chrome bumpers front and rear, while the SLE, SLT, Elevation and Denali switch to body-color bumpers for a cleaner look. The Elevation adds dark exterior trim, and the Denali adds chrome mirrors and chrome window surrounds.

The 4WD Standard Box trims measure 241.5 inches long on a 157-inch wheelbase, and stand 78.2 inches tall on the AT4 and 75.4 inches on the Denali. The 2WD Short Box trims measure 231.9 inches long on a 147.4-inch wheelbase and stand 75.5 inches tall. Ground clearance is 7.9 inches on the short-box trims and 10.7 inches on the AT4.[1]

The MultiPro Tailgate is standard on the Denali and SLT and optional on the Elevation, SLE and Pro. The Denali Illumination Package and Denali Reserve Package add an illuminated exterior logo and two-tone 22-inch wheels.[1]

Which interior comforts does the 2026 Sierra 1500 offer families?

The Denali and AT4 seat five, with two front buckets and a three-person rear bench. The Pro, SLE, Elevation, Elevation 3VL and SLT seat six, thanks to a 40/20/40 split front bench with a center seat.[1]

The short-box Crew Cab gives 43 inches of front headroom, 40.1 inches in the rear, 44.5 inches of front legroom and 43.4 inches in the rear, so taller adults are comfortable in both rows. Front shoulder room is 64.5 inches on the Denali and 66 inches on six-passenger trims. Hip room is 60.8 inches front and 59.3 inches rear on the Denali, and 61.2 front and 60.2 rear on six-passenger trims.[1]

The Pro, SLE and base Elevation have cloth seats; the SLT, AT4 and Denali have leather. The Denali and SLT offer heated and ventilated front seats, and the Denali adds heated rear seats. The SLT Convenience Package adds heated and ventilated fronts as an option. The Denali and SLT have five-way power driver seats, with memory on the Denali. Below-seat rear storage and a full-size floor console are standard on the Denali and AT4.

What technology comes in the 2026 Sierra 1500?

Every trim except the Pro has a 13.4-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, with satellite-view navigation, real-time traffic and 36-month map and traffic subscriptions. The Pro uses a 7-inch display with an analog and digital cluster.[1]

Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard on the SLE, SLT, Elevation, AT4 and Denali; the Pro uses wired connections. All trims include Bluetooth, a built-in Google assistant and front and rear USB ports. The Denali and AT4 add a standard wireless charging pad, which is optional on the SLT through the SLT Convenience Package.

An embedded SIM supports an available Wi-Fi hotspot, with a 36-month subscription included on the Denali and AT4. OnStar is standard on all trims, including automatic crash response, remote lock and unlock, remote start, vehicle diagnostics and location sharing, with a 36-month remote services subscription on upper trims.

The optional Technology Package on the Denali and AT4 adds a head-up display and a digital rear-view camera mirror. The Denali Reserve Super Cruise Package adds Super Cruise, GMC’s hands-free highway driving assistance, which handles lane control and automatic lane changes on compatible roads. The SLT Preferred Package adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go. All trims support over-the-air software updates, so infotainment and vehicle systems can improve without a dealer visit.[1]

How safe is the 2026 Sierra 1500?

NHTSA has not yet published 5-Star Safety Ratings for the 2026 Sierra 1500 Crew Cab; the Regular Cab and Double Cab versions earned the top five-star overall rating.[4][5] In IIHS testing of the Crew Cab, the Sierra earned a Good rating on the driver side of the small overlap front test and a Marginal rating on the passenger side, which makes its combined small overlap rating Marginal. It earned Acceptable ratings in the updated side test and in pedestrian front crash prevention.[3] Check the latest results for any configuration at nhtsa.gov and iihs.org.

Six airbags are standard on every trim: front, front side and front-and-rear side curtain airbags. All trims include pretensioning front seat belts, a 3-point rear center belt, adjustable head restraints and child seat anchors.[1]

Automatic Emergency Braking is standard on all trims. The SLT, AT4, Denali and trims with the Sierra Safety Plus Package add front and rear low-speed coverage. Rear cross-traffic alert is standard on the Denali and AT4 and available on the SLE and Elevation through the Sierra Safety Plus Package.[1]

Lane Keep Assist is standard on all trims. ABS, brake assist, an electronic parking brake, hill hold, roll stability control, traction control and trailer stability control are also standard. The Denali and AT4 add HD Surround Vision, a 360-degree camera system.

What sets the 2026 Sierra 1500 apart from other full-size trucks?

The Sierra’s strongest differentiators are practical. The EcoTec3 V8’s cylinder deactivation shuts down cylinders under light load, helping the 2WD V8 trims reach 21 mpg highway. The AT4’s Duramax diesel pairs 495 lb-ft of torque with 26 mpg highway.[1][7]

The MultiPro Tailgate, standard on the Denali and SLT and optional on other trims, offers six functions for loading, standing and working at the bed. The 13.4-inch display on upper trims, with Google built in, puts Google Maps and Google Assistant on the dash without a phone.[1]

On the Denali, the optional Super Cruise system is one of the most capable hands-free highway driving systems in a full-size pickup. It works on a mapped network of compatible roads and monitors driver attention.[1] For a spec-by-spec look against Ford’s half-ton, see our Sierra 1500 vs. Ford F-150 comparison.

Everyone at this dealership is amazing! But Mr. Bruce Harris & the manager are the two most amazing people on that team.

They will NEVER force you into buying what they want you to have. They get you the best deal possible while sitting and talking and laughing at jokes. They make the sale go smoothly and in the end you will be driving off in your new vehicle.

This is my 3rd vehicle I’ve purchased from them and my family has purchased as well.

    Thanks so much!
